Carving the silence of the Tree Bark

Trivandrum based artist Reshma Thomas recently exhibited her latest installments titled ‘Secret Metamorphosois’, a collection of ‘Bark’ paintings at Golf Club, Trivandrum.

The event was inaugurated by Dr.Meena T Pillai, B.Arundathi, G.Venugopal and Unni R.

Her canvas gracefully speaks about the power of transformation and emotions that we go through in life. Her latest works gives us a closer look to understand the beauty, shapes and toughness of bark in trees, which reflects the transformation it had gone through in each season and in all weather. The tree barks and colors used in each canvas tell a unique story, letting us explore the deeper perspective of life.

The exhibition held from 18th to 21st featured 40 paintings and used tree barks of Mahogany and Anjili. A photography contest titled “Changing Perspectives” was also held as part of the exhibition and the first place was bagged by P.Abhijith.

Alliance Francaise de Trivandrum is organizing a Cello concert ‘L’Odyssee de I’Inde’ by a world-renowned French cellist Sonia Weider-Atherton, on 24th November at 6:30pm at Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan. The musical concert is organized as part of the Indo-French cultural exchange festival ‘Bonjour India’.

IFFK to host ‘Empowerment of Women in Cinema Workshop’

The 22nd edition of International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) has geared up to host a two-day workshop on ‘Empowerment of Women in Cinema Workshop’, to facilitate greater participation of women filmmakers and technicians.  The workshop will be held during the course of the festival from 12th to 13th of December.

‘Empowerment of Women in Cinema Workshop’ is organized by IFFK in corporation with Basil Content Media.

Sachin flagged off the Spice Coast Marathon

Rajesh Namboodiripad emerged champion in the 3rd edition of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Spice Coast Marathon flagged off by Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on 12th November, at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kochi.  Mayor Soumini Jain and MLA Hibi Eden were also present at the starting point alongside Sachin to flag off the run.

The marathon was divided into three race categories- the Full Marathon (42.2 km) commenced at 4am, Half Marathon (21.1 km) at 5am, and Family fun Run (8 km) at 7am. Around 5000 Marathoners ranging from kids to 101 year old man took part in the event.

The event sponsored by IDBI Federal Life Insurance in partnership with the Kochi Metro Rail Limited and the District Tourism Promotion Council.

CII CSR Coffee Table Book Release

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a session on ‘Building a Better Society’ on 8th November, at Hotel Hilton Garden Inn, Trivandrum. The session was held in connection to make Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) a powerful part of every profit-making organization or social building. In this regard, Dr. Shashi Tharoor officially released the book titled ‘CII CSR Coffee Table Book’ in the presence of Dr. Divya S Iyer IAS and other senior government officials.

22nd IFFK from 8th – 15th December

The city is cleaning up to host the most prestigious movie event – The International Film Festival of Kerala. Held in December every year, the 22nd edition has quite some showstoppers under its sleeve. International competitors include German and Iranian movies along with entries from Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Indian films Newton (Hindi) and Village Rockstars (Assamese), two Malayalam movies- Aedan and Randuper have been enlisted for competition. Malayalam Cinema Today segment will showcase movies like Angamaly Diaries and Take Off from popular genre along with other off beat films. Delegate registration will open in the second week of November.
