Turning Heads

Make way for the beautiful Shruti Ram, actor and model. The story of Shruthi, from Kannur,  was written in the stars. What else could explain the rise of a girl who went to watch the audition of Miss Kerala contest 2012 and ended up being selected as a contestant! She left the contest with the title of Miss Vivacious 2012 under her belt. A few commercials and couple of cover pages later, she took a break to pursue a career out of the limelight as a banker in Bangalore. Apart from her gait on the ramp, Shruthi is also passionate about jewellery making and dancing. She has now returned to the modelling industry and has had some stints on the big screen as well. For someone who believes in  “Beauty is simplicity” and enjoys the little things in life, these are joyous times !

Smart and Graceful

She’s sharp, she’s elegant, and she’s got a stance that turns heads. Meet Aswathy Pillai – model, anchor, and actor. Her early interest lay in dancing which she started training at the age of 4. She continued to train and perform dance during her school years in Kuwait which led her to TV show anchoring while in high school. She returned to India to pursue Bachelors in Engineering at Mar Baselios College, Trivandrum and continued her gig as a television anchor in association with Doordarshan, Kairali, Mathrubhumi and ACV.

Her modelling stints came incidentally. She’s a saree lover and posted photos on social media wrapped in yards of silk and cotton. Her graceful stance caught the attention of boutique owners, who hired her as a model for their web pages. She has since become a familiar face.

Not surprisingly, she landed offers to act in movies and short-films. She decided to balance her life in Trivandrum, her job, and chose to do short films. She was seen in ‘Open Your Mind’ with Bhavana and ‘45 Seconds’ with actor-producer Vijay Babu. Regarding her future plans, she cites modelling as her passion and hopes to continue in the coming years. She’s currently working as senior analyst at Ernst & Young.

Young talent

Sanju is a budding model and an aspiring actor. He was born and brought up in Pattambi, Kerala and finished his MBA from Bharathiyar university. During his graduation days he never got a chance to try out his skills in acting and theatre owing partially to lack of opportunities and partially due to his deep rooted fear of an open stage. He took up a job soon after his graduation and in a year went abroad to Abudhabi to work in the position of HR in a private company. One year of his monotonous routine made him reconsider the aim and path of his life. Mustering up all the courage and confidence he could find, he came back home leaving the security of a well paid job and a settled life, to have a try in the movies. A year later, this actor has already been a part of three movies and other modelling work as well, all the while overcoming the deep rooted fear that held him back from his dreams years back.  His was a story that resembles many who always dreamt of a certain life that one truly loves and never tried for it, but not any more, as he believes, “you have to leave something behind to reach somewhere else”.
